Hands-On Learning - Kendo Beginner's Course
We hold 6-week Kendo beginners' courses for adults (aged 16 and over) at various times throughout the year. Since July, we have held three courses, twenty-four enthusiastic beginners have completed their introduction to the Way of the Sword and the majority have chosen to continue their Kendo journey with Sydney Kendo Club.
During our course you will learn the basics of Kendo, including etiquette, footwork and striking techniques. By the end of the course, you will be ready to train in the traditional Kendo uniform and armour ('bogu') and you will merge into the Sydney Kendo Club's regular Wednesday and Saturday classes. The course fee includes your own shinai, the bamboo sword used in Kendo, membership of the NSW Kendo Association, insurance and instruction. The next course will commence on Saturday 9 January 2021.
Places are limited to a maximum of 10 people.
